Cox Plate international ratings – where does your runner lie?

October 6, 2011

Racing Victoria has released a provisional order of entry for the $3m Tatts Cox Plate (2040m), to be run at Moonee Valley on October 22.

It is a “provisional” order as the international ratings are not the sole manner in which the final Cox Plate field is determined.

It is merely a guide which assists the Moonee Valley Racing Club Committee in deciding who will run in Australia’s weight for age championship.

Only two horses at this stage – Shamrocker and Rekindled Interest – are exempt from the ballot.

Shamrocker is likely to miss the race, with trainer Danny O’Brien determined to focus on the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Other highly rated horses who are unlikely to run include Americain, who will run in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Cup (2500m) on the same day, and Whobegotyou, who this afternoon has been withdrawn from all spring assignments.

Here are the international ratings for the Cox Plate:

EXEMPT – Rekindled Interest, Shamrocker
121 – Americain
118 – Absolutely, Jimmy Choux, Lion Tamer, Secret Admirer
117 – Alcopop, Descarado, Yosei
116 – Helmet, Glass Harmonium, King’s Rose, Lights of Heaven, Love Conquers All, Playing God, Sincero, Southern Speed, Wall Street
115 – Avienus, Linton, Midas Touch, Pinker Pinker
114 – Smart Missile, Toorak Toff
113 – At First Sight, Dreamaway
111 – Efficient, Luen Yat Forever, Torio’s Quest
110 – Blackie, Fast Clip, Woorim
107 – Sahara Sun
