See Immortal Verse’s win in the Prix Jacques le Marois (defeating Goldikova) here

August 16, 2011

Australian racing fans have the opportunity to see last night’s Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois (1600m) at Deauville, in which Coronation Stakes winner Immortal Verse defeated three time Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Goldikova, here today.

Goldikova was aiming for her 15th Group 1 victory, but the six year old mare could not match Immortal Verse.

The daughter of Anabaa was also defeated in the same race by Makfi last year, but returned to winning form against Paco Boy at Longchamp on Arc Day before winning her third Breeders’ Cup Mile.

It is believed she will aim for an incredible fourth Mile victory at Churchill Downs in November.

However, nothing can be taken away from the winner.

The three year old filly started at 19/1 but showed her Royal Ascot victory was no fluke with a dominant victory.

The victory of Americain in last year’s Melbourne Cup, as well as the increased profile of French horses worldwide, has led to a great demand from Australian punters for access to racing from France – but despite a trial last year, Sky Racing does not show French international races any more.

Nor do TVN.

It has resulted in punters relying on the internet to catch a replay, most times hours after the race.

In an age in which racing has become an international product, this simply isn’t good enough, so hopefully the situation will be rectified in the coming months.

Here is the great win of Immortal Verse in the Prix Jacques le Marois:

Great stuff Andy, Immortal Verse..super horse for mine. Congrats on getting a video up…what year is it 2011 or 2011 BC..and we can’t watch French racing, what is wrong with these people, the decisions they make re broadcasting just beggars belief sometimes it really not be showing any French after showing it for one season is unexceptable.

Keep up the great work, particularly chasing down these French group videos.
