RIP Cedarberg – BMW winner collapses at Moonee Valley

August 16, 2011

Cedarberg,  a shock winner of the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill in April, collapsed and died at Moonee Valley this morning during a track gallop.

Rated highly in spring feature markets, he was considered one of a number of rising stayers who could have emerged a star this spring.

Trained by Pat Carey at Mornington, Cedarberg was a five year old son of Victoria Derby winner Helenus out of the Spectrum mare Infrared.

For the next eight months, the galloper’s colours will remain painted on the winning post at Rosehill as the winner of The BMW.
