UPDATE – where my 15 horses to watch are heading
With the spring heating up, I thought I would update readers on where my 15 horses to follow look like heading!
BASE – likely to resume in the Listed Heatherlie Handicap (1700m) in two weeks time, then into the Naturalism Stakes before setting his sights on the Cups
BLACK CAVIAR – unlikely to be seen until the Caulfield Guineas meeting in October
BOOMING – likely to resume in the Group 1 Makfi Challenge Stakes (1400m) in two weeks time before coming across
DECEMBER DRAW – I’m not sure where he’ll resume – possibly the Heatherlie Handicap too? Or they may even wait for the Makybe Diva Stakes.
DO YOU THINK – likely to resume in the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill in two weeks time, a likely Caulfield Guineas type, could also attempt the Cox Plate!
EFFICIENT – from all reports, he is likely to resume in the Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley in four weeks time. The Cox Plate is probably on the agenda if he holds up.
FORETELLER – likely to start a short price favourite in the Premier’s Cup Prelude (1800m) at Rosehill this Saturday
GLENSTAL ABBEY – resuming in what looks a fairly strong maiden on Friday at Wyong. If he doesn’t at least hit the line extremely well, if not win, I’d be very disappointed.
HOUSTON BENEFACTOR – runs today in a maiden at Canterbury, where she should really just win. I reckon she’ll come into her own over further.
LOST IN THE MOMENT – runs in the Ebor Handicap (2800m) on Saturday week, if he wins you’d say he’d be a top Melbourne Cup chance
LIGHTS OF HEAVEN – resumes in the Group 2 P B Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield this weekend before heading to the Makybe Diva, Underwood, Yalumba and then either the Cups or the Cox Plate
REBEL SOLDIER – disappointing return by him last week, hopefully he’ll bounce back when he next races
SATIN SHOES – resumes in the Listed Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, has a good barrier so I’m expecting her to go well. Will stick to fillies grade for the time being.
SEPOY – likely to be short for his return in the Listed Vain Stakes (1100m) this weekend, and really should win. Will head to the Danehill Stakes after this.
STRIKE THE STARS – entered in a small field over 1400m at Rosehill this weekend. It’s disappointing, because I think he’d be better with pace. However, I’m convinced he’s one to watch for the Spring Champion Stakes.
