Andrew’s Selections – 04/06/2011

June 4, 2011

Tough day of racing today, with wet tracks in Sydney and Melbourne (as well as, on the whole, average fields) and big fields with plenty of chances in Brisbane.

Here are my bets for today.

EAGLE FARM R2 No.4 Glass Harmonium – I read Just Racing’s Phil Purser say that if you were having a bet in this race, you were mad. Well, I reckon I am mad. But Glass Harmonium looks the goods to my eye. Only danger is Scenic Shot. This horse will measure up in whatever spring race Moroney wants to set him for, he’s going places. And third up, he’ll be much improved.

EAGLE FARM R3 No.7 Fifteen Carat – I know he ran last at Doomben, but he’s a real Eagle Farm horse. I expect there’ll be a little bit of speed in this race and I reckon he can fly home over the top of them. On his day, he has a devastating turn of foot. Just hope it is today.

EAGLE FARM R4 No.12 Dowager Queen – I was all set to back Shanghai Bund last week but she was a late scratching. But on their Kiwi form, you’d have Dowager Queen lengths ahead. She beat the older fillies and mares in a Listed race last start – she did have 46kg but for a two year old, it is quite some feat. I think she’ll be the testing material here, although she will be much improved up to 1600m next week.

EAGLE FARM R6 No.6 King Pulse – his last effort was monstrous, and I think he finally showed he was back on target. Moroney has said the same this week. I think the favourite Sincero is a very promising horse, but I don’t like him coming back from 1600m to 1300m. Next week could be his week.

EAGLE FARM R7 No.13 Shez Sinsational/No.14 Crafty Lady – read my Queensland Oaks preview for more information. Click here.

ROSEHILL R1 No.6 Prodigal Rocker – a bit of a sentimental bet here, seeing as he’s Royal Orchid’s half brother. A win would make her pedigree page look better, good for Amanda! Click here to read the story of Prodigal Rocker.

ROSEHILL R8 No.1 Faaltless – the Kiwis won the last race two weeks ago with Klose, I reckon they can do it again with Faaltless.

Good luck today everyone!
